The Kills‘ fifth full-length album, Ash & Ice, is due for release on June 03, 2016.  The first single, “Doing It to Death,” is already available for download and purchase and puts electro beats with their usual smoky, crunchy guitar riffs and sultry vocals.

They’ll start a tour on April 07, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee and play shows all the way through mid-August.  Catch them if you can.

Suuns’ new album due out this April.

suuns-bw-01sm

Canadian psych-rockers Suuns have started a PledgeMusic campaign and a Bandcamp page for their upcoming album Hold / Still.  The first two released tracks, “Translate” and “Paralyzer,” are good cuts that lace their weird psychedelic sound with electro touches.  Hold / Still is sure to be a good record if the rest of the tracks are as good as these.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s “Nonagon Infinity” now available for pre-order.

KGNI

Prolific Australian psych-rockers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have  another album ready to roll on April 29, 2016.  Nonagon Infinity is now available for pre-order through the band’s Bandcamp page and the first single, “Gamma Knife,” can be heard there.  It’s a loud rocker with heavy harmonica and some of their fastest drumming.

Nonagon Infinity will be released the first day of Levitation Austin, at which King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are playing, so I’m looking forward to hearing this album live.

The lovely Brazilian singer Ceu‘s new album Tropix will be out March 25, 2016.  You can see the video for the first excellent single, “Perfume Do Invisivel,” below. It’s a beautiful single combining bossa nova with electro as Ceu does better than most.

The Raveonettes now have a PledgeMusic campaign for their “anti-album.”

As I reported on February 20th, the Raveonettes are creating a new “anti-album” in which they’re releasing a new track every month this year.  They’ve been asked if an album of the tracks will be released and they’ve announced a new PledgeMusic campaign to help fund a CD and vinyl cut of the as yet unnamed album.

The album will be $15 on CD through the campaign, but a singed copy of the CD is available for only ten dollars more.  Only 300 of those are being made available and 75 of them are already claimed at press time.  Get them while they’re hot.

In the meantime, enjoy the official lyric video for the newest track – “Run Mascara Run.”

John Carpenter to begin U.S. tour this June.

JCLT

Director and composer John Carpenter will be performing music from his many excellent film scores and his great album Lost Themes throughout the United States beginning June 14th in Seattle, Washington.  This is a rare opportunity to see Mr. Carpenter perform his music, as he only has eleven tour dates scheduled over the summer.  Tickets start at $45 at some venues, and most are offering good (albeit pricey) VIP packages that include meet-and-greet events and special merchandise.

This is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime event, so don’t miss it.  I have my tickets for his Detroit show in July.  I didn’t opt for a VIP package since I’ve met Mr. Carpenter before, but I do hope to score one of the limited tour posters there.
